MIDORI

How To Build A Nuclear Bomb and Other Weapons of Mass Destruction

I initially found this album when scrolling through Youtube. I saw the cover and immediately clicked on it. The album is mostly remixes of songs, but with a Jungle vibe on it. Lots of different songs, and great sampling and drum beats. Midori is a really underappreciated and underground artist. They slap though. Give it a listen!

N.W.A

Straight Outta Compton

Known as the pioneers of West Coast Hip-Hop, NWA really paved the way for a lot of artists. Although far from the first rap group on the West Coast, they were one of the most popular. Straight Outta Compton released in the 80's and pissed off a lot of people because it told truth. Before them, most people generally went about their day respecting police and living in a way that is seen as formal. Truth be told, the album may be too real for a lot of people. If you're uncomfortable with the topic of assault, then it may be a good idea to stay clear of this album. Otherwise, the beats are good.

Kendrick Lamar

DAMN.

Kendrick Lamar is pretty well known today for his other works such as GNX and Mr. Morale, but his 2016 album DAMN. is still the best to me. Apparently the people at the Pulitzer Awards think so too, because Kendrick Lamar was the first to earn a Pulitzer Award for Hip-Hop because of this album. Not only is the music goated, with dozens of inspirations from West Coast rap, but also is a perfect album in pacing. Not to mention the outrageous story. You can literally play the tracklist backwards and it has a different meaning. 100% recommend this album.
